The National Network for the Study of Educator Dispositions (NNSED) was created to tackle one of the most pressing current problems in the preparation of future teacher and other educators--defining and measuring the dispositions associated with effectiveness and integrating them into the recruitment, admissions and training programs for future educators.
I am sorry to announce that we have canceled this year’s Symposium. Due to a significant reduction in proposals and pre-registrants, we have made the difficult decision that there would be insufficient numbers to make a viable event. Our suspicion is that the economy, higher airfares, and what seems to be a de-emphasis on dispositions has caused the decline.
We are, however, thinking of other ways to continue this important dialogue. One that comes to mind is to do a webinar this spring. A second idea is to move forward with our plan of publishing an online journal. We will get more information to you about these possibilities as we learn more how best to do them. Please check the website for more information on these options. If you are interested in working on one or more of these projects, please let me know at wasicskom1@nku.edu.
If you have paid your registration, we will be in touch to determine how best to refund your payment.
Thanks for your continued interest and support. I hope and expect that we will continue our important work in this area and that the climate next year will be more conducive to hosting our Symposium.

The National Network for the Study of Educator Dispositions is soliciting and compiling stories of great teachers and the qualities that made them memorable. Your recollections and those of your students about favorite teachers can help contribute to a large-scale, nationwide study sponsored by NNSED.
The goal is to collect more than 5,000 accounts of great teachers, glean the characteristics that made them so successful, and study the implications for preparing the next generation of educators. In addition, we plan to publish studies, articles and a book about what we discover so it can be shared with educator preparation programs around the country.
You can help by telling about your favorite teacher online at the Great Teachers, Great Memories website (www.favoriteteachers.org) or by mailing your submission to Great Teachers/Great Memories, College of Education and Human Services, BEP 203B, Northern Kentucky University, Nunn Drive, Highland Height, Kentucky, 41099. Respondents should include the teacher?s name, school(s) where he or she taught, the first characteristic that distinguishes that teacher, a specific memory about him or her and a description of how that teacher treated them as a student.
